IRMA at SEX and the CITY / V.A.

ドラマ『Sex and The City』の人気はどこから来るのだろう。週末のブランチで赤裸々に話す身辺の男性やセックス話の痛快さ？ NYの30代独身女性が自由奔放に過ごすメトロポリタン・ライフへの憧れ？それらはもちろん、今年のエミー賞で主演女優賞獲得した主演のサラ・ジェシカ・パーカー、そして助演女優賞を獲得したシンシア・ニクストンなどの出演者一人ひとりの役作りや物語の構成などを上げればきりがない。

だが、忘れてはならないのは『Sex and The City』を人気ドラマたらしめる要素である“オシャレ”をキーワードにしたファッション、そして音楽へのこだわりだ。主演、そしてプロデューサーでもあるサラが演じるキャリー・ブラッドショーの6シーズンで着た洋服・靴の総コストは2億3千万円に上るらしい…。また、音楽好きとしてはストーリー中に流れる曲にIRMA音源が使われていることも見逃せない。

IRMAレコードとは知る人ぞ知る、イタリアの名門レーベル。ファンク、ハウス、ジャズ、ラウンジ・ミュージックを独特観点でブレンドし、芸術的に選りすぐった『IRMA Cocktail Lounge』は特に有名だ。

今回の『IRMA at SEX and the CITY』は全6シーズンからDaylight Session（昼用）、Nightlife Session（夜用）と、いずれも2枚組みで曲の雰囲気ごとにピックアップされたコンピレーション。どの曲がどのシーズン、エピソードで使われたものなのかCDにクレジットが付いているのもファンには嬉しいところ。

曲を聴きながらドラマのシーンを思い出す…ってのは随分なマニアか。SATCを知らずともラウンジ好きが充分に楽しめる内容になっている。ドライブ、デートの雰囲気作りにはもちろん、話のネタとしても使える一枚はこれ以上ない。
