The ２１世紀スタンダード

１９９５年、DJ/プロデューサー集団としてスタートした Jazzanova 。彼らのファースト・リリース『Fedime's Flight』がヨーロッパを始めに世界的なヒットを放ち、当初はリッミクス業を中心とした活動を展開、不動の評価を得ていた。その作品群は既に『Jazzanova Remixes』としても発表されている。

ドイツ、ベルリンのローカル・シーンから、世界へ躍り出た彼らだが、ファースト・アルバムに懸かっていたプレッシャー、期待は尋常ではなかった。それまでのJazzanova的典型のスタイル、パーカッションを軸にした緻密でいてアップリフティングなトラック---4HeroやIncognito、そしてUFOなどのリミックスで名を馳せたあのカタチ---を踏襲するだろうことは多くのファンの想像に難くなかったはずだ。

だが待望の２００２年、ドロップされたアルバムはさらにその先を行くものだった。

ブラック・ルーツとテクノロジーの完全で自然な融合。このアルバムは彼らの原点と、そして未来を伝えるにふさわしい仕上がりを見せる。一曲ごとにレビューしていたらきりがない。収められた１７曲の２１世紀スタンダードたちは全て、丁寧に磨かれ、配置され、織り込まれて一幅の壮麗なタペストリーを成している。参加ミュージシャンはヴィヴラフォンにDavid Friedmann、Clara Hill、2 Banks of 4のValerie Etienne、Ursula Rucker、 盟友Vikter Duplaix、そして日本からはHajime Yoshizawa a.k.a. Sleepwalker他多数。
